Note if you have unlocked your iPhone with AnySim, iphonesimfree or any other method don’t use this tutorial as it wont work

 

Overview

Step 1- lets do some backing up, shall we

-Close iTunes

-Make a of copy  iTunes Music Library.xml and place it somewhere. This file is located at C:\Documents and Settings\your username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\

 

Step 2 – Uninstall iTunes completely

Follow the instructions at

 to completely uninstall iTunes . Make sure you read and do the steps under the 4 categories

-Remove iTunes

-Remove QuickTime

-Remove Apple Software Update

-Remove Apple  Mobile Device Support

 

Step 3 –Install iTunes 7.3.2

Download iTunes 7.3.2 from this link on Apple’s site and install, Click here

 

Step 3 A – Restore iTune library( if necessary )

After installing iTunes 7.3.2, open iTunes .If you see this dialog

 

Then do the following

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\your username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\

And delete iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml

 

Then re-open iTunes and go to file > import… and select the iTunes Music Library.xml file you backed up in step 1.

 

 

Step 4 – Restore iPhone Software 1.0.2

Download the restore file from Apple’s site here

After it has downloaded, launch iTunes and plug your iPhone into the dock. You will get this message

 

 

Don’t worry, just click Ok

 

Now do the following on your iPhone( remember, keep it docked )

-Slide to unlock

-hold down home button and power button for about 10 seconds or until the screen goes black. Then release the power button but continue holding the home button. After about 10 seconds the computer will detect the iPhone in restore mode, and iTunes should tell you that the phone needs to be restored with the following dialog

 

 

 

Press ok

Now, on your computer keyboard, press shift, and while holding down shift, press the restore button

 

In the dialog that pops up, locate and select the restore file you download in the first part of this step.

Then let the restore proceed. After the restore is complete, you will get a message that says

Don’t worry about it just click ok, and let iTunes load the iTunes store

 

 

Step 5 -Settting up your iphone in iTunes

Select any of the two options. Restore from backup will keep all your previous information on your iPhone

 

Final Note

Never upgrade iphone software and iTunes  immediately anymore. Wait till what the online community says about any pitfalls in updating to the latest iTunes or iPhone.  So,  If you see a dialogs like these

 

Simply check “Do not ask me again” and select “Don’t install.

Same thing goes for iTunes, if a dialog pops up asking you to update iTunes like this,“Just Say NO”.
